SP584/585/586: ADVANCED PRACTICUM IN SPIRITUAL DIRECTION. Gary
Sattler.
DESCRIPTION:
- The advanced practicum in spiritual direction builds on the content
of SP582-583 and applies that content to field setting situations and
cases.
RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
- This course will enhance the skills and understandings of the
practice of spiritual direction at a more advanced level.
COURSE FORMAT:
- The class will meet weekly for three hours for a nine-month period,
for specific training and practice in the skills of spiritual direction in a
supervisory setting. During the fall quarter, the course will meet in
conjunction with SP502 The Art of Spiritual Direction. The next two quarters
will be spent in case conferences and integrative theory/practice discussion,
as well as exploring participants' own experiences in spiritual direction and
their ongoing relationship with God.

ASSIGNMENTS:
- Regular attendance is required.
- Assigned reading.
- Presentations of case studies and participation in case analysis.
- Completion of self-evaluation reports for all practicum
experiences.
PREREQUISITES:
- Students must be accepted into the Spirituality/Spiritual Direction
concentration and have completed the first year of that concentration (SP501,
SP581/582/583).
RELATIONSHIP TO CURRICULUM:
- Meets concentration requirement for Spirituality/Spiritual
Direction concentration of M.A. and M.Div. (SP584 = 1 unit; SP585 = 1 unit;
SP586 = 2 units.)
