CN547: MODELS OF KOREAN FAMILY MINISTRY. Yea Sun E. Kim.

DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed to help future Korean church leaders to develop their family ministry programs. For this, the needs of and hindrances to family ministry in Korean churches will be analyzed, some models of family ministry introduced, and the methods of designing family ministry programs discussed. Special emphasis will be given to developing premarital, marital, and parental education programs suitable for Korean churches.

RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
The first place Korean Christian families turn to for help with their serious and ever-increasing family problems is the church. However, the concept of family ministry is not fully introduced to Korean congregations, and Korean church leaders are not properly trained to prevent or heal family pain. Therefore, it is imperative that Korean students preparing for church ministry be equipped with the ability to initiate family ministry.

The class will meet for ten weeks on Thursday mornings, 8:00-9:50 and 10:50-12:15 for student presentations, discussion, lectures, and video-tapes.
