NS519/NT819: EXEGETICA: SELECTED NEW TESTAMENT TEXTS. Ralph Martin.


DESCRIPTION:

This seminar, intended for doctoral students, provides a forum for a reading of some New Testament texts (in Greek) that relate to the students' interests and widening education.

RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
This course is primarily designed for future teachers and scholars in the church. All who wish to know how the New Testament is to be exegeted as a scholarly and spiritual discipline will be helped.

COURSE FORMAT:
In winter quarter, 1998, the group will meet once a week, with personalized tutorials and readings prescribed. Thursday, 3:00-4:50 p.m. is the set day.

REQUIRED READING:
Martin, Ralph P., New Testament Books for Pastor and Teacher (Westminster Press, 1984) will give a start to the search for commentaries, etc. to be updated by more recent literature and resources.

ASSIGNMENTS:
An essay will be written and presented for class discussion.

PREREQUISITES:
CATS enrolled member, with a special invitation to a limited number of M.Div./M.A. students (who are suitably qualified) with the permission of the instructor. The maximum number in the seminar is 10 (ten), plus up to 3 (three) M.A./M.Div. students.
