NE506: EPHESIANS. Judith Gundry-Volf.


DESCRIPTION:

An exegetical study of Ephesians based on the Greek text. Through verse by verse analysis the argument and major themes of the epistle will be elucidated. The questions of authorship, style, relationship to Colossians, and possible conceptual backgrounds will also be discussed.

RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
The great themes of Ephesians--reconciliation, unity in Christ, the church, the Lordship of Christ--are some of the major issues facing the Christian church and ministry today. This epistle is thus a rich resource for contemporary teaching and preaching.

COURSE FORMAT:
Lectures combining exegesis of the biblical text with discussion on it, including reflection on application to contemporary cultural and ecclesial settings. The class will meet weekly for one three-hour session
