CF540: MODELS OF YOUTH MINISTRY. Mark Oestreicher.


DESCRIPTION:

This course will look at models of youth ministry in both historical and current contexts. This assumes a preliminary working knowledge of adolescent development and youth ministry programming. Because the primary instructor is a practitioner, the course will emphasize the application of philosophy and ministry models in a variety of settings.

RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
Expected outcomes from this course include the following:
  1. Understanding of the history and development of youth ministry in the United States and Internationally.

  2. Understanding of current models and philosophies of youth ministry.

  3. Development of one's own youth ministry philosophy and its practical implications.

  4. Exposure to several actual youth ministries and ministers.

  5. Development of assessment and evaluation strategies.

COURSE FORMAT:
This course will meet 3 - 5:50pm, Tuesdays, Winter quarter, 1998. It will consist of lectures, guest lectures, discussions, student presentations and participatory activities.

None. However, this would be a good follow-up course to CF503: Foundation of Youth Ministry.
