LG517/518: GREEK READING. Steven M. Wilkinson.

DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed to help a student improve her or his ability to read extended passages in the Greek New Testament with facility. Included in this course will be the reading of some Septuagint Greek. LG517 Greek Reading and LG 518 Greek Reading are offered on alternate quarters, in which different New Testament passages are covered. Either LG 517 or LG 518 may be taken after a beginning Greek course (LG 512). A student may take LG 517 or LG 518 in any sequence.

RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
One of the most basic skills for interpreting the text of the New Testament is an understanding of the language in which it was written. Students who successfully complete this course should be able to make extensive use of the Greek text, with limited dependence on supportive tools, as part of the exegetical task and in one's devotional reading of the New Testament.

COURSE FORMAT:
The course meets for two hours two days a week for ten weeks.

REQUIRED READING:
An introductory grammar (from LG 512) such as Goetchius or Gantt.
