LG517/518: GREEK READING. Samuel Gantt.
DESCRIPTION:
- This course is designed to help a student improve his or her
ability to read extended passages in the Greek New Testament with facility.
Included in the course will be a reading of some Septuagintal and Patristic
Greek. LG517 Greek Reading and LG518 Greek Reading are offered in alternate
quarters, in which different New Testament passages are covered. Either LG517
or LG518 may be taken after a beginning Greek course, or, for additional
reading experience, a student may take both courses in any sequence.
RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
- One of the most basic elements in interpreting the text of the New
Testament is understanding the language in which it was written. Students who
successfully complete this course should be able to make extensive use of the
Greek text, with limited dependence on supportive tools, as part of the
exegetical task.
