ST522: ORIENTACION PARA LA INVESTIGACION THEOLOGICA. Jerome T. Costello.
DESCRIPTION:
- This course is primarily designed for the Latino student with
limited research and writing skills. Its objective is to help students to
attain proficiency in logical thinking and reading. It also seeks to facilitate
their theological conceptualization and to develop their graduate research and
writing skills.
RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
- The increased level of proficiency in language skills, research,
reading and critical thinking will enormously benefit the students' personal
development and preaching and teaching ministry.
COURSE FORMAT:
- The class will meet for a three-hour period one day per week. It
will be a combination of lectures, exercises and discussion.
REQUIRED READING:
- Adler, Mortimer J. and Van Doren, Charles. How to Read a
Book. Simon & Schuster.
- Turabian, Kate. A Manual for Writers.
- Handouts.
- Any good Spanish and English grammar.
ASSIGNMENTS:
- Complete brief and original writing projects on assigned theological
topics.
- Development of a comprehensive and annotated bibliography in one area of
theological research.
- A short research paper (10-12 pages).
PREREQUISITES:
- Spanish.
