PR521: PREDICANDO EN UN CONTEXTO MULTICULTURAL [Preaching in a Multicultural Context] (4 Units: 160 Hours). Jorge Sánchez.

DESCRIPTION: To become an excellent preacher of the Christian faith requires knowledge and years of practice. Building upon the foundation established in PR500, this four-unit seminar seeks to establish, develop, and perfect the method of communication that was learned in the previous class. In addition, through the required readings and lectures the course will strive to help the students to strengthen their spiritual life and ministry practice.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: The practicum seeks the following goals for each student: (1) cognitive: understanding of the challenges faced in preaching in a cross-cultural or multi-cultural setting; (2) affective: developing an appreciation for preaching techniques from several cultural settings; and (3) skills: communication tools for crossing cultural borders in preaching and for evaluating their own preaching experiences in cross-cultural and multi-cultural settings.

COURSE FORMAT: The seminar will meet in a five-week intensive format for four-hour sessions twice weekly for a total of 40 instructional hours. The focus will be on the presentation of sermons before the class and receiving group feedback. Small blocks of evaluation and instruction will also be included.
