OT862: OLD TESTAMENT TEXTUAL CRITICISM (Two Units). Leslie C. Allen.
DESCRIPTION:
- This two-unit seminar, intended for PhD and ThM students, will
develop basic work in textual criticism taught in OT801 Critical Approaches to
the Old Testament. It will feature reading on the theory and practice of
textual criticism and work through Old Testament passages that pose textual
problems.
SIGNIFICANCE FOR LIFE AND MINISTRY:
- This course prepares for OT research and so has a role in preparing
students for the ministry of teaching.
COURSE FORMAT:
- The class will meet for discussion weekly for a two-hour
session.

ASSIGNMENTS AND ASSESSMENT:
- The reading allotted to each seminar must be done beforehand, to
facilitate discussion. A term paper working through an assigned text will be
required.
PREREQUISITES:
- It is recommended that students have taken OT801 Critical
Approaches to the Old Testament.
RELATIONSHIP TO CURRICULUM:
- Elective. Meets OT concentration requirements in the PhD and ThM
program.
FINAL EXAMINATION:
- None.
