ST503: SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY 3: ECCLESIOLOGY AND ESCHATOLOGY (Taught in Korean).
Eun Kyoung (Esther) Kim.

DESPCRIPTION: This course discusses Christian beliefs about ecclesiology and eschatology. The course will cover topics relating to the church--its nature and mission, worship, sacraments, and ministry-- as well as to the last things--death, resurrection, judgment, heaven and hell--as formulated from the Reformed, ecumenical, and contextual perspectives. A particular emphasis will be on examining the context and the issues in the Korean/Korean-American church.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: Students completing this course will have demonstrated (1) a basic understanding of ecclesiology and eschatology; (2) an understanding of the topics in the traditional and the contemporary formulations; (3) an acquaintance with the socio-economic and cultural context of the Korean/Korean-American church; (4) skills towards developing one's own theology in one's own context; (5) an appreciation of ecumenical and cultural diversity.

RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY: Students will be prepared to do ministry as they learn to think theologically on the issues of faith and ministry in their own tradition and other traditions.

COURSE FORMAT: The class will meet once a week in three-hour sessions for lectures and discussions.
