ST503: SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY 3: ECCLESIOLOGY AND ESCHATOLOGY. David A. Dorman.


DESCRIPTION:

An introductory course on the doctrine of the Church and of the Last Things. Special emphasis will be given to the historical development of doctrines in relation to biblical roots, and the role of traditional theology in contemporary thought.

RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
The topics discussed illumine the basis for the Church's life of worship, nurture, and proclamation, both in articulating the content of faith and in suggesting models for communicating the content in ministry.

COURSE FORMAT:
The course will meet for ten four-hour sessions over two weeks for lecture and discussion.

ASSIGNMENTS:
Submission five response papers of 2-3 pages each; a 6-page book report on a selected contextual/intercultural text; and a take-home final examination based on the lectures. First response paper due Wednesday, August 4; two on Monday, August 9; two on Friday, August 13. Book report due Friday, August 27. Final examination due Friday, September 10. PREREQUISITES: None.

RELATIONSHIP TO CURRICULUM: Meets M.Div. core requirement in Systematic Theology "C" (STC).

FINAL EXAMINATION: Take-home final exam.
