OT507: EXEGESIS DEL ANTIGUO TESTAMENTO: SALMOS (PSALMS). Thomas H.

DESCRIPTION:
- This course is a study of the book of Psalms in Hebrew, emphasizing
Hebrew grammar, literary and theological approaches, contemporary application
for the Church and her members in mission.
RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
- By the end of the course students will have had opportunity to (1)
develop their proficiency in Hebrew and their commitment to continuing to build
this proficiency, (2) encounter basic issues involved in contemporary study of
the Book of Psalms, (3) wrestle with the theological witness of the Book of
Psalms within its canonical context, and (4) encounter resources for nurturing
their individual and corporate practices of prayer.
COURSE FORMAT:
- The class will meet twice weekly, two hours for reading of the
Hebrew text and two hours for lecture and discussion.

FINAL EXAMINATION:
- Yes, including translation and analysis of Psalm texts covered in
class.
