FT550S: Practicum Supervision Group. MFT Faculty

DESCRIPTION:

Required for students who are concurrently enrolled in practicum or practicum continuation in the program in Arizona. Practicum supervision is intended to promote student clinical development through discussion of case review, clinical practice, and the curriculum. Supervision will be provided by a marriage and family therapist licensed and qualified to supervise in Arizona. (0 units, to be registered concurrently with practicum. Phoenix campus students only)

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:

1. Students will demonstrate conceptualization of practicum cases.

2. Students will gain knowledge in applied case conceptualization.

3. Student will develop personal awareness of their role as a MFT Trainee.

4. Students will develop skills in conducting MFT interventions.

5. Students will demonstrate the ability to discuss integration issues in clinical practice.

RELATIONSHIP TO SCHOOL AND SEMINARY LEARNING OUTCOMES

1. Graduates will develop the clinical and ethical competence commensurate with the expectations of post-graduate MFT internship placement.

2. Graduates will demonstrate an understanding of the concepts and attitudes necessary to serve effectively in diverse communities locally and globally.

3. Graduates will be prepared to serve underserved populations and to integrate in their practice and personal lives the disciplines of compassion and charity.

4. Graduates will demonstrate the ability to identify critical issues of diversity and make appropriate responses.

5. Graduates will be able to pursue careers consistent with their education.

COURSE FORMAT:

This 0 unit course will meet once a week. Classes will include case discussion and demonstration. Attendance is required.

None.

ASSIGNMENTS:

Submit case presentations, as assigned, during the quarter.

PREREQUISITES:

Currently enrolled in FT550 Practicum, FT551 Practicum, or FT555 Practicum Continuation.

RELATIONSHIP TO CURRICULUM:

1. Core component of MFT clinical training.
