FI515 FORGIVENESS, RECONCILIATION AND CLINICAL PRACTICE (2 units). Amy Wasserbauer, PhD

 

 

DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed to provide an overview of the primary approaches, applications, and research related to the area of forgiveness in clinical practice. Forgiveness assessment, issues concerning domestic violence, and infidelity will be discussed as well as the theological and intergenerational implications of forgiveness.

 

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:

1.       Apply concept of forgiveness to clinical practice.

2.       Assess the potential and appropriateness of forgiveness in a variety of situations.

3.       Apply a theological framework to the work of forgiveness in clinical practice.

4.       Articulate current models of forgiveness.

5.       Articulate the limitations of forgiveness in clinical practice.

 

RELATIONSHIP TO SCHOOL AND SEMINARY LEARNING OUTCOMES:

1.       Provide excellent preventative and/or transformational mental health services to church and community

2.       Apply the insights of Christian theology along with the knowledge and techniques of the social and behavioral sciences.

3.       Identify critical issues of diversity and make appropriate responses.

 

COURSE FORMAT:

This 2 unit course will meet in an intensive format over two weekends, Friday nights and Saturdays. Sessions will emphasize lecture, demonstration, and discussion. Course evaluation will be based upon written assignments and a final exam.
