LG512A/B: INTRO TO NEW TESTAMENT GREEK (4 Units each: 160 hours each). Renee A. Williams.
DESCRIPTION: Greek A/B introduces students to basic building blocks of New Testament Greek, including nouns and cases, prepositions, adjectives, pronouns, verbs, and an introductory vocabulary.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: Having successfully completed this two-quarter sequence, the student will have demonstrated the ability to (1) read aloud in Greek and to write legibly in a standard Greek script; (2) recognize and translate from memory vocabulary words introduced in Black; (3) identify various forms of words and understand and explain basic Greek grammar and syntax; (4) translate and analyze passages from the Greek New Testament and other texts using a standard lexicon and other tools.
COURSE FORMAT: This class meets once per week for three-and-a-half hour sessions for a total of 35 hours of classroom instruction for lecture and discussion plus 5 hours of directed learning activities for a total of 40 instructional hours. Class will meet for discussion of prepared assignments, informal lectures, and reading of New Testament passages. In addition, there will be a mid-week on-line quiz. Class will meet the week of Thanksgiving. Limited to 25 students.
