DESCRIPTION:

This course explores the nature of Christian leadership development slightly based on J. Robert Clinton's Leadership Emergence Theory. The course also highlights an integration of spiritual leadership and how God shapes a leader over a lifetime for unique purposes. Development of a leader's life takes place: (1) In the context of God's sovereign formative hand, (2) in the context of time and (3) in context of a leader's response to God's formation. The course also aims to provide perspectives that enable students to assist others in their lifelong development.

1. aligned one's own identity as a leader by reflecting on the integration of being and doing in leadership;

2. acquired key insights into how God has been shaping their life over a lifetime for unique purposes;

3. processed developmental exercises that will assist them to assess and describe their God-given potential;

4. generated a Developmental Plan using adapted course concepts that will enable them to assist others in their personal development.

The class will be conducted on the Internet using a 10-week lesson program aligned with Fuller's academic calendar. Each week students and the instructor will interact with the material through journaling and threaded discussions. The sessions include a time of spiritual formation as well as further input on lifelong development concepts. There will also be virtual small group activities to apply the concepts.
