ML540: ADULT LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT (4 units).
Robert Freeman, Assistant Professor of Distributed Learning, Assoc. Dean
MAGL/DMiss.
DESCRIPTION:
- This course is an overview of adult leadership development (ALD)
focusing on design and evaluation of ALD processes that have proven effective
in mission and ministry. Includes an in-depth look at "Dialogue Education"
(Jane Vella) as a practical means of facilitating adult learning. This course

- Examined several philosophical perspectives and definitions
regarding leadership, adult leadership development, and evaluation.
- Identified several formal, non-formal and informal models of adult
leadership development that have been used successfully.
- Analyzed variables affecting the learner, the adult leadership
development process and desired outcomes using an eight aspect design model.
- Investigated how adults learn best.
- Completed a detailed analysis or design of a nonformal or informal
adult leadership development process using a systems approach.
COURSE FORMAT:
