MC506: LEADING A MISSIONAL CHURCH (4 units).

DESCRIPTION:
- This course explores the identity and purpose of the church as well
as the leadership required to lead the church into greater missional engagement
with its contexts; both local and global. The focus of the course is the
intersection of the fields of theology, ecclesiology, missiology, and
leadership. The course assists leaders in the development of a missional
ecclesiology and a plan to lead their church/organization into greater
redemptive engagement with the world.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: Upon the successful completion of the course, students will
have
- gained theological perspective on the issues of Trinitarian ecclesiology
and leadership.
- gained understanding of ecclesiology and missiology from both historical
and contemporary perspectives.
- discerned and assessed their own church's/organization's ecclesial identity
and mission paradigm.
- assessed their congregation from the perspective of a holistic missional
ecclesiology.
- developed a leadership strategy, including theological, methodological, and
behavioral dimensions, for personal and congregational missional
renewal.
COURSE FORMAT:
- This course will be conducted via the Internet on a ten-week
schedule aligned with Fuller's academic calendar. Students are required to
interact with the material, with each other, and with the instructor regularly
through journaling, online discussions, reading, and other assignments that
promote active learning.
