TH559: Theologies of the Holy Spirit (4 Units: 160 hours). Patrick Oden.
DESCRIPTION: This course will examine scriptural, historical, and theological themes related to pneumatology, the study of the Holy Spirit. Throughout the course, our study will be attentive to elements of orthodoxy, orthopraxy, and orthopathy in coming to terms with a holistic understanding of the work of the Spirit in our lives, our contexts, and throughout the world.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: Students completing this course will have demonstrated their ability to (1) understand key developments and topics in pneumatology; (2) analyze critically main contributions and challenges of the doctrine of the Spirit; (3) reflect on the significance of pneumatology to Christian theology and faith; and (4) Students will present a theological framework for understanding the practice of spiritual dynamics.
COURSE FORMAT: This course will be conducted online on a ten-week schedule aligned with Fuller’s academic calendar for a total of 40 instructional hours, which is outlined below in the assignment and assessment section. Students are required to interact with the material, with each other, and with the instructor regularly through online discussions, reading, and other assignments that promote active learning.
