LG512B: INTRODUCTION TO NEW TESTAMENT GREEK PART 2 (4 Units: 160 Hours). Timothy Reardon.
DESCRIPTION: Greek B completes students’ introduction to basic building blocks of New Testament Greek through introduction of most remaining verb forms found in the New Testament, with special focus on the aorist tense, participles, nonindicative moods, and -mi verbs, and further enriching their vocabulary.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: Having successfully completed this two-quarter sequence, students will have demonstrated the ability to (1) read aloud in Greek and to write legibly in its standard script; (2) recognize and translate from memory the 320 most frequently occurring words in the New Testament; (3) identify (i.e., parse) the various forms of articles, nouns, pronouns, adjectives, and verbs found in the Greek New Testament; (4) understand and explain basic Greek grammar and syntax; (5) translate basic texts in the original language.
RELATIONSHIP TO PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES: This course introduces students to Greek, so that students will be able to study the New Testament in its original language. The course thus helps to build skill in interpreting the New Testament, which contributes to the PLO, “Students will have demonstrated competence in the practice of biblical interpretation for faithful use of Scripture in their own lives and ministries” (MDiv).
COURSE FORMAT: This course will be conducted online on a ten-week schedule aligned with Fuller’s academic calendar for a total of 40 instructional hours. Students are required to interact with the material, with each other, and with the instructor regularly through online discussions, reading, and other assignments that promote active learning.
