MC506:LEADING A MISSIONAL CHURCH (4 units)

DESCRIPTION:
This course explores theidentity and purpose of the church as well as the
leadership required to leadthe church into missional engagement with its context(s). The focus of the course is theintersection of the fields of theology, ecclesiology, missiology, andleadership. The
course assists leaders in the development of a missionalecclesiology
and a plan to lead their churches into greater redemptiveengagement
with the world.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: Upon the successful completion of the course, studentswill have:

Gainedtheological perspective on the
issues of Trinitarian ecclesiology andleadership
á
Gainedunderstanding of ecclesiology and missiology from both historical andcontemporary
perspectives
á
Discernedtheir own congregationÕs
ecclesial identity and mission paradigm
á
Assessedtheir congregation from the
perspective of a holistic missional ecclesiology
á
Developeda leadership strategy,
including theological, methodological, and behavioraldimensions,
for personal and congregational missional renewal
COURSE FORMAT:
The class
will beconducted on the Internet using a
10-week lesson program aligned with FullerÕsacademic
calendar. Each week students and the instructor will interact with thecourse material through journaling, threaded
discussions, and web-basedresearch.
