PM527: TEOLOGIA PASTORAL. Enrique Torres.

DESCRIPTION:

The course seeks to develop an awareness in students of the nature and forms of ministry. To that end, the course deals with a theology of church and ministry, a review of concepts and styles of leadership and enabling, and seeks to continue a process of the development of skills and resources for ministry. There is also an emphasis on the function of ministry in the first pastoral setting into which a student will move.

RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
This course will encourage the student to (1) develop a strong theological foundation for the ministry and the church; (2) develop an appreciation for the great task, as a Hispanic minister, he or she has to do for the sake of our community; and (3) develop pastoral methodologies contextualized for Hispanic ministry.

COURSE FORMAT:
The class will meet from 8:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m., July 20-31, 1998. The course will use a variety of teaching styles, including lectures, discussions, role plays, case studies, student presentations, field trips and media.
