SP583: PRACTICUM IN SPIRITUAL DIRECTION. Nancy M. Anderson.


DESCRIPTION:

A practicum course covering the application of the concepts of spiritual direction to field settings.

RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
This course will serve to enhance the skills and understandings of the practice of spiritual direction at an introductory level.

COURSE FORMAT:
This course is the third of a three-quarter practicum (SP581/582/583) meeting weekly for a nine-month period, for specific training and practice in the basic skills of spiritual direction. Some weeks will be in smaller group meetings which practice the assigned skills, while others will be full class meetings which will focus on a specific topic and task.

ASSIGNMENTS:
  1. Course attendance is required.

  2. Weekly reading as assigned.

  3. Completion and self-evaluation reports for all practicum experiences; approximately five papers each quarter.

PREREQUISITES:
SP582; students must be accepted into the Spirituality/Spiritual Direction concentration.

RELATIONSHIP TO CURRICULUM:
Meets concentration requirement for Spirituality/Spiritual Direction concentration of M.A. and M.Div. (SP583 = 2 units).
