LG506/806: ADVANCED HEBREW GRAMMAR. Frederic Bush.

DESCRIPTION:

This course will be devoted to the discussion and elucidation of problems in Hebrew phonology, morphology, and syntax beyond the discussion possible in LG502 and the exegetical work required for the M.Div. core courses. It will deal with such matters as morphophonemic changes, the use of tenses, parallel materials from other ancient Near Eastern languages, etc. The study will be based on the translation and exegesis of the book of Ruth.

RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
A more thorough control of the subject and difficulties of Hebrew phonology, morphology, and syntax than that provided by the basic Beginning Hebrew course is requisite for those who will be engaged in academic study and teaching of the Old Testament. This course provides a step in achieving such control.

The class will meet twice weekly in two-hour sessions for recitation and discussion of previously assigned passages.
