ST502: SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY II. David Dorman.


DESCRIPTION:

An introductory course designed to provide a foundational understanding of the doctrines of Christ and salvation. Special emphasis will be given to the historical development of doctrine in relation to its biblical roots, and the role of traditional theology in contemporary thought.

RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
The topics discussed illumine the basis for the Church's life of worship, nurture, and proclamation, both in articulating the content of the faith and in suggesting models of relating faith to those ministries.

COURSE FORMAT:
The course will meet for forty hours of lecture and discussion.

ASSIGNMENTS:
Track 1: Formalized class notes, two short response papers, and a 10-15 page term paper.
Track 2 (option for those who have done track 1 work in a previous course): Submission of six short response papers, and an essay-type take-home final exam.

None.

MA: Church History/Theology.

FINAL EXAMINATION:
Take-home final exam in track 2.
