DESCRIPTION:

This seminar, intended for doctoral students, provides a forum for a reading of some texts (mostly in Greek) that relate to the political, economic, social, philosophical and religious setting of the New Testament.

This course is primarily designed for future teachers and scholars in the church. All who wish to know how the New Testament relates to its social and religious environment will be helped to see the way communication becomes a greater factor in reading the New Testament then and now.

In fall quarter, 1997, the group will meet once a week, with personalized tutorials and readings prescribed. Thursday, 3:00-4:50 p.m. is the set day.
