LG502A/B: BEGINNING HEBREW. Michael R. Beetley.

DESCRIPTION:

This two-quarter course provides an introduction to Biblical Hebrew which will enhance the student's exegesis of the Old Testament. The student will be given a descriptive overview of the language, and will be expected to master its fundamental features. Students will also be introduced to basic grammatical and lexical reference tools.

RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
If thorough knowledge of the scriptures is essential for the minister, understanding them in their original languages must be considered of great importance. To this end, familiarity with Hebrew will provide the minister with an invaluable resource for exegesis of the Old Testament, critical use of advanced study tools and commentaries, evaluation of English translations, and appreciation of the artistry of the Hebrew text.
