OT526: SALMOS (PSALMS). Roberto Cole.

DESCRIPTION:

The Book of Psalms will be analyzed from the Hebrew text utilizing a canonical perspective. Individual psalms will be read with emphasis on rhetorical style and immediate literary context. Based on this type of analysis conclusions will be drawn regarding the message of the Psalter as a whole.

RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
The Hebrew Psalter is one of the most quoted books in the New Testament. A study of the shaping and message of the entire collection will lead to an understanding of its role in the theology of the Old Testament and its importance for the New Testament. Such an understanding will reveal its relevance to the church today even as it did to that of the first century.
