DP535: THE MISSION OF THE VINEYARD MOVEMENT. John C. McClure and Robert Oliver.



DESCRIPTION:
This course is a study in applied theology and focuses on the mission, values, and vision of the Association of Vineyard Churches. It is designed for emerging pastors and leaders who seek to serve in the Vineyard. Topics include: 1) Vineyard's Vision; 2) Values, Priorities, Practices: A Philosophy of Worship and Ministry; 3) Polity: A Local, National, and International Model;
4) Leadership: Life-Long Development of Spirituality and Ministry Skills; 5) Church Planting, Missions, Youth Ministry.

RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
The aim of this course is to educate and empower emerging leaders who sense a call to serve in the Vineyard. Students will articulate their own philosophy of ministry as they reflect upon the mission, values, and vision of the "Vineyard Movement."

COURSE FORMAT:
Class will meet once a week for three hours. The instructor will lecture on the above topics and discussion of readings and lectures will follow.

REQUIRED READING:
Reading a minimum of 1200 pages from the book list is required. It is assumed the student has read J. Wimber's/K. Springer's books and articles.

ASSIGNMENTS:
Written assignment and class participation determine the student's grade. A 10-15 page book review(s) is due the eighth week. A 10-15 page philosophy of ministry is due the tenth week; students will articulate their vision for ministry and reflect on their present understanding of their calling.

Meets M. Div. core requirement in Pastoral Ministry and Theology (MIN 6).
