LG512C: INTRODUCCION AL GRIEGO [Beginning Greek]. Camilo Gonzalez.


DESCRIPTION: The third quarter of a three-quarter sequence designed to give the student a thorough basic knowledge of the phonology, morphology, and syntax of New Testament Greek. Periodic quizzes and tests help the student to monitor his or her progress. The class will be conducted entirely in Spanish.

SIGNIFICANCE FOR LIFE AND MINISTRY: The course will provide the student the basic skills in Greek grammar needed for preaching, teaching, and personal devotion.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: Students completing this three-quarter course will have demonstrated (1) a fundamental knowledge of the grammar structure of the language; (2) basic skills in translating texts; (3) an ability to interact with critical commentaries and to use the language tools to enrich his/her exegetical work with the New Testament.

COURSE FORMAT: The course method is based on preparation of carefully designed lessons before coming to class. The class sessions consist of recitation and discussion of questions and problems, as well as presentations of material as needed. The class will meet twice weekly for two-hour sessions.

ASSIGNMENTS AND ASSESSMENT: Each student is expected to be present at all class sessions with homework and the assigned lessons fully prepared. There will be periodic quizzes and tests to help the student to monitor his or her progress. There will also be a midterm and final examination.

PREREQUISITES: LG512A, LG512B and Spanish. Only students who were registered in the Winter quarter of this section may register for this class.

RELATIONSHIP TO CURRICULUM: The three-quarter sequence LG512A/B/C meets the MDiv core requirement in Greek (GRK).

FINAL EXAMINATION: Yes.
