NE502: METODO EXEGETICO BIBLICO [Biblical Exegetical Method]. Camilo González.

DESCRIPTION:

This course seeks to equip the students with a knowledge of the various tools and techniques of exegesis of the New Testament. Emphasis will be placed on grammar, context of the text, history, culture, and textual, literary, and redactional criticism. Selection of Biblical texts will include different genres of the New Testament literature, e.g. historical narratives, parables, epistles, apocalyptic. In the practice of exegesis special attention will be given to how exegetical decisions are made and how to move from exegesis to sermon.

RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
The ability to exegete the Greek New Testament is important for responsible teaching and preaching.

COURSE FORMAT:
This course will be a combination of lecture and exegetical practices. Emphasis will be placed on practice, therefore a high degree of student participation is expected. Students will also be assigned, in addition to the Greek Text, special areas in which to do in-depth exegetical work. The results of this special research will be presented and discussed in class. Class will meet twice a week for two-hour sessions.
