LG557: THEOLOGICAL FRENCH I. Christine Peterson.


DESCRIPTION:

Introduction to basic French grammar, vocabulary, and translation. This course is intended to provide the prerequisite skills used in LG561: French II.

COURSE FORMAT:
This course will meet for lecture, discussion, and translation practice twice weekly for two-hour sessions for five weeks. At the beginning of each class there will be a 10-minute pronunciation drill.

REQUIRED READING:
La Sainte Bible. Nouvelle version revised. Louis Segond.

Palmeri, Joseph and Milligan, E. E. French for Reading Knowledge. Heinle & Heinle Publishers, Inc., 1969.
It is also recommended that students add an English/French dictionary to their library. Collins-Robert French-English English-French Dictionary (Collins Publishers, 1988) is an excellent example.

ASSIGNMENTS:
Homework will be assigned for each class session from the textbooks along with various handouts distributed in class.

PREREQUISITES:
None. Transcript evidence of prior study required to audit this class.
